Gum Disease Treatments:

At Rekha’s Dental Centre, our periodontists are specialized in prevention, evaluation, management and treatment of periodontal diseases using the latest techniques. Where possible, we will always try and save you from tooth loss.

At the simplest level, treatments to help with gum disease starts with scaling in which your teeth are professionally cleaned by our periodontist. This reaches all the places that toothbrushes have struggle with such as in between the teeth and gets rid of the plaque build-up responsible for gum disease.

Root planing is the next step for some patients with gum disease. The procedure involves cleaning the tooth root that has become infected and removing any tissue which is damaged beyond repair. Your dentist can also check if you have any periodontal pockets where gaps between your teeth and gums form. These pockets can be places where bacteria build up that needs to be thoroughly cleaned and treated if necessary.

If gum disease has affected the bones in your jaw, it is possible to carry out bone and jaw grafts on the affected areas to restore function and promote growth.

We also offer cosmetic gum treatment to improve the appearance of gum by the latest gum contouring techniques to build up gum tissue in areas where it is lacking, or trim it in areas where it is overgrowing.

In some rare cases, it may be impossible to save your tooth. If this does occur, rest assured our expert team will discuss cosmetic options such as dental implants with you. We are proud to offer some of the best dental implants in Sharjah to fix your smile. The implants are inserted into the area where your tooth root used to be and screwed into your jaw using a titanium screw. They can then support a lovely, realistic false tooth or set of teeth in place of those you have lost.

Gum disease prevention:

Great oral hygiene habits can prevent gum disease. Regular brushing and flossing, frequent visits to your dentist, and antiseptic mouthwashes are all essential in looking after your gums. Our dentists and periodontists strive to make sure you have all the information and education you need to properly care for your gums.
